Nuance and DeJarnette Speed Shared Patient Information and Images across Disparate Radiology Locations and Systems
Nuance’s RadWhere™ for Radiology Speech Reporting Solution Coupled with DeJarnette’s PACSware Intelligent Router Simplifies Multi-Site Radiology Workflow
BURLINGTON, MA — December 1, 2008 — Nuance Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: NUAN) today announces a new technology integration between its award-winning RadWhere™ for Radiology speech reporting solution and DeJarnette’s PACSware® Intelligent Router. In response to radiologists’ demand for a single point of access to patient information and images across multi-site facilities and disparate systems, together the PACSware Intelligent Router and RadWhere for Radiology can now direct all diagnostic information to a single workstation of choice. This integration allows radiologists to more easily and quickly view images, report findings and expedite information exchange with the referring physician or hospital. Nuance is demonstrating this technology at the Radiological Society of North America’s (RSNA) annual conference in booth #6215.
The integration between DeJarnette’s PACSware Intelligent Router and Nuance’s RadWhere for Radiology, a data-driven, structured speech recognition reporting application is designed to address the needs of healthcare networks with multiple and/or disparate RIS, PACS, 3D, and teleradiology systems. This integration provides optimum workflow, enabling radiologists to share information and images without the headache of working through multiple work lists, physically moving to various workstations, the struggles of toggling between multiple applications or the frustration of needing to create and remember multiple log-ins. This new integration is configurable to meet the demands of any multi-site radiology environment regardless of the number of locations or systems, and offers additional benefits, including:
- Increased quality and accuracy of reporting, due to less manual steps.
- Streamlined shared patient data and provider communication for faster report turn-around time (TAT) to improve service and communication.
- Flexible work lists and more robust access to images, increasing overall productivity of radiology departments, allowing them to process more patient information in less time.
“With continued growth of radiological advanced technologies, the demand for shared diagnostic images and clinical data amongst disparate systems is critical,” said Philip Rispoli, vice president of business development, DeJarnette Research Systems. “RadWhere for Radiology’s unsurpassed clinical workflow capabilities coupled with Intelligent Router’s industry leading data sharing strengths delivers an exciting, first of its kind solution to ensure fast, accurate and complete radiology review and reporting processes in any location or system.”
Today, more than 30 percent of U.S. radiologists use speech-driven workflow solutions from Nuance to improve clinical documentation and communication, enhance patient care and reduce transcription costs by up to 100 percent. Nuance’s integrated solutions support a single, end-to-end, closed-loop management process for radiology. In addition to RadWhere for Radiology, the full closed-loop radiology product portfolio includes:
- RadPort for Radiology — Decision support for appropriate high-cost exam ordering (see separate release for more information).
- PowerScribe for Radiology — Speech-enabled reporting for highly accurate clinical documentation.
- Veriphy — Solution for critical test result management (CTRM) (see separate release for more information)
- RadCube for Radiology — Web-based business intelligence tool for advanced clinical data mining, outcomes analysis and information classification.
“While some companies claim various functionality in multi-site radiology workflow and image routing, only Nuance’s new integration with DeJarnette’s technology provides multi-site workflow with the added benefit of structured templates, integrated peer review and clinical content capabilities, data extraction for trend analysis and more,” stated Mike Mardini, vice president of medical imaging, Nuance Healthcare. “The new integration with PACSware Intelligent Router is just one more way Nuance is ahead of the curve in delivering a complete, end-to-end workflow management solution that helps streamline and improve the radiology process.”
