Microphone modes
Your microphone is always in one of three modes. The current mode is indicated by the Microphone button in the Status Window and by the Dragon menu icon.

Changing the microphone mode
If your microphone is off, do one of the following:
- Click the icon in the menu bar and select Turn Microphone On.
- Click the microphone button in the Status Window (this will turn the microphone on).
- Use the keyboard shortcut to toggle the microphone (default is ⌘F11).
If your microphone is on, do one of the following:
- Say Microphone off or Go to sleep.
- Click the icon in the menu bar and select Turn Microphone Off.
- Click the microphone button in the Status Window (this will turn the microphone off).
- Use the keyboard shortcut to toggle the microphone (default is ⌘F11).
If your microphone is in sleep mode, do one of the following:
- Say Wake Up or Turn microphone on.
- Click the icon in the menu bar and select Turn Microphone On.
- Click the microphone button in the Status Window (this will turn the microphone on).
- Press the keyboard shortcut to toggle the microphone (default is ⌘F11).
By default, Dragon's microphone will go to sleep after one minute of inactivity. You can change the Auto Sleep setting in the General pane of the Preferences window.
