Working with Microsoft Word

The commands below are available when you are using Word. Use the menu walking commands to access other Word features.

Note: You cannot dictate in tables. Add tables after you have finished dictating the main body of the document.

Creating a document

  • Say New file to create a new document in Word.
  • Say Open file to access the Open dialog.

Navigating within your document

You can move your cursor to a different point in your text with the standard navigation commands, such as:

  • Insert before <text>
  • <Direction> arrow (up, down, left or right)
  • Go to beginning / end

Finding text in your document

  • Say Show Find window.

Selecting text

You can use the standard commands for making a selection, such as:

  • Select <text>
  • Select All
  • Select next / previous word
  • Unselect that

Editing your document

You can use the standard commands for revising your text, such as:

  • Cut <text>
  • Cut selection
  • Copy <text>
  • Copy selection
  • Paste from clipboard
  • Delete <text>
  • Delete selection

Formatting your document

You can use the global commands to format the last word or phrase you spoke:

  • Bold / Italicize / Underline that

To change the font size

  • Say Set font size to <number> points.
  • Say Make selection bigger / smaller to increase or decrease the font size by one point.

To insert a page break

  • Say Insert Page Break.

Save your document

  • Say Save this document.

Print your document

  • Say Print this document.

Close your document

  • Say Close file.
