Q.   What is the Nuance Open License Program?
A.   The Nuance Open License Program (OLP) is a flexible and cost-efficient method for organizations of any size to procure Nuance software. The OLP has five discount levels that are based on points. The initial purchase determines the level of discount. Subsequent purchases can be made in smaller quantities for the discount set at the initial purchase. The initial purchase discount level is set for a two-year period.

Q.   What is a point and how is price determined?
A.   Point values are assigned to each product and service offered in the Nuance Open License Program. In order to qualify for initial order, you must have a minimum of 50 points.

Price is determined on the total points accumulated in the initial order quantity. As with most other open license programs, the OLP allows customers to "mix and match" products.

Q.   Why is the program called "Open"?
A.   The program is called "Open" because a contract is not necessary, and customers can enjoy a discount beyond the initial purchase. The initial order sets the discount level.

Q.   If a customer places a re-order that would qualify for a higher discount level than they currently have, how is the re-order priced?
A.   If a follow-up purchase is larger than the initial purchase and would warrant an improved discount, Nuance suggests that this order be placed as a new initial order, and the 2 year period begins again.

Q.   Is there a minimum purchase requirement to join?
A.   Yes, a minimum of 50 points is necessary on the initial order. Each reorder must be at least 20 points. Points are earned with licenses, upgrades, upgrade assurance, and technical support.

Q.   Is technical support available for OLP?
A.   Yes, each product that is purchased with the exception of Dragon NaturallySpeaking Medical entitles the customer to one free technical support incident. Additional Open License Program Maintenance may be purchased at a cost of 20% of the standard volume price of the license.

A.   Points and pricing are subject to change. Please call for the most current information.

Q.   Since some Nuance products require a microphone to use the product, does a customer have to purchase the microphone separately? Does the microphone have a point value?
A.   No on both counts. For the products that require microphones, each license comes with a microphone. The microphone does not have a point value.

Q.   How long does the Nuance Open License Program last?
A.   The Nuance Open License Program is for a 2-year period beginning on the initial order date.

Q.   Who do we contact to place orders?

Q.   What do I receive when I place an order under the OLP?
A.   For each order under the OLP, you will receive:
  • A license certificate. (includes specific information on the licenses purchased, the expiration date of the licenses, and whether or not Software Maintenance was purchased)
  • A single CD
  • One manual
  • Microphones will be shipped for each license purchased (Dragon NaturallySpeaking software only)
Q.   How can a customer purchase additional manuals and CDs?
A.   All CDs and manuals are sold through authorized Nuance Application Solutions Partners or through Nuance Sales at 800-443-7077.

Q.   What if a company is acquired? Can the licenses be transferred to the new company?
A.   Yes, but only with prior written approval from Nuance.
