AHDI-Florida Recognizes Nuance’s Dictaphone® Healthcare Division for its Commitment to Supporting Continued Education in the Medical Transcription Community
BURLINGTON, Mass., March 27, 2008 – Nuance’s (NASDAQ: NUAN) Dictaphone Healthcare division today announced that it has been recognized by the Florida component of the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI), a national association devoted to educating medical professionals, the public and legislative and regulatory agencies about the important role of the medical transcriptionist (MT). AHDI’s Florida component has presented Dictaphone with an award for its continuous support of its mission and Annual Meeting and Educational Conference.
"The Dictaphone team has provided Florida's MTs with ongoing vendor support in their continuing education efforts," said Arlaine Walsh, CMT, FAAMT and 2008 AHDI-FI President. “In our effort to evolve the role of the transcriptionist and promote quality patient care through improved documentation and continued MT education, we see Dictaphone as a supporter of our association and its mission.”
Through the delivery of advanced speech recognition solutions, Dictaphone has driven significant increases in MT productivity for both in-house and outsourced medical transcription across North America. By allowing transcriptionists to review and edit highly accurate, speech-recognized, formatted draft documents instead of transcribing dictated reports from scratch, healthcare organizations can shorten turnaround time, improve processes and achieve significant, proven cost savings in medical transcription.
“We’re honored that AHDI-Florida has recognized our support of their association as we bring our new solutions to them as part of their continuing education process. Together with the caregiver, transcriptionists drive patient documentation. This award is particularly meaningful because it comes from MTs who use our solutions on a daily basis,” said Tony Icardona, vice president, Nuance’s iChart® managed services, Dictaphone Healthcare Solutions.
AHDI is the world's largest organization working to advance health data capture and documentation by setting standards for education and practice in the field of medical transcription and editing. Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, AHDI provides continuing education to its members through symposia and state/regional association meetings, as well as one national meeting each year. The Florida component will hold its Annual Meeting and Educational Conference April 4-5, 2008, in Jacksonville, FL. Dictaphone will be presented with its award at the event.
